Get a Drain CCTV Survey Quote
A useful drain CCTV survey quote depends on what the survey must answer, how the pipe is accessed and what the report needs to show. Give us the site details and we can help with a scope that fits the job.
What a Drain CCTV Survey Quote Needs to Cover
A drain CCTV survey is not a single product. The scope changes with the question being asked. A homebuyer wants to know whether the drains serving a property are in usable condition. A developer needs evidence for a build over agreement or a Section 104 adoption. A facilities manager may need a condition record across a site. Each of those needs a different survey specification, and the quote should reflect that.
We can help with drain CCTV surveys for domestic, commercial and development sites. To quote accurately, we need to understand the pipework, the access and the output required. A quote based only on a postcode and a pipe length is unlikely to match the work.

Survey Type and Purpose
The first question is what the survey is for. Common purposes include:
- Pre-purchase drainage inspection for a homebuyer
- Build over agreement evidence for a water company
- Section 104 adoption survey for a developer
- Condition survey for a commercial or industrial site
- Investigation of a specific defect, blockage or water ingress
- Pre-relining survey to confirm the pipe is suitable for lining
Tell us the purpose and any deadline. Water company requirements differ, and some build over or adoption submissions need specific coding, drawing conventions or manhole schedules. Confirming those requirements before the survey is specified avoids a report that has to be repeated.
Site Postcode and Drainage Layout
A single dwelling with one inspection chamber is a different job from a housing plot with shared runs, a pumping station or a private treatment plant. Existing drawings help us understand run lengths, manhole positions and likely access points.
Where no plan exists, the survey may need to include drain mapping or tracing to establish the layout. That is a separate task from the CCTV inspection itself and should be allowed for in the quote.
Access Arrangements
Access is often the largest variable in a drain survey quote. The camera needs to enter the pipe, usually through an inspection chamber, manhole or rodding point. If chambers are buried, damaged, sealed or missing, access may need to be created before the survey. That work has a cost and a safety dimension.
Some sites need traffic management, permits to work, confined space arrangements or out-of-hours attendance. Deep manholes and large diameter sewers may require specialist access and rescue provisions. We can help with surveys where access is straightforward, and we can discuss what is needed where it is not. We do not ask anyone to enter a confined space without a proper assessment and safe system of work.

Report Requirements
The report is the deliverable. Tell us what it must contain. Options include:
- Written observations with photographs
- MSCC5 coding and any required condition grading
- Manhole schedule and drainage plan
- Recommendations for repair, lining or further investigation
- Format required by a water company or adopting authority
Not every survey is graded. MSCC5 is a coding system for condition assessment, and it is not always needed for a simple blockage investigation. If a water company or insurer has specified a format, send that specification with the enquiry.
A CCTV survey shows the visible internal surfaces of the pipe. It cannot detect every defect, and deposits, scale or debris can hide the pipe wall. The report reflects what was visible under the conditions at the time of the survey.
Information to Include with Your Enquiry
To help us respond with a useful quote, include:
- The survey type or purpose
- Site postcode and, if different, the access postcode
- Property or site type, such as housing, commercial, industrial or development
- Number of buildings, plots or drainage runs if known
- Access arrangements and any known restrictions
- Deadline or programme date
- Report requirements, including any water company or adopting authority specification
- Any existing report, plan or sewer map
You can send this through the quote form or by email to info@draincctv.co.uk. If you are unsure what survey you need, describe the problem and we can help with the scope.
Related Survey Types
Different projects need different surveys. A homebuyer drain survey focuses on the drains serving a property before purchase. A build over CCTV survey provides evidence for a water company where construction is planned near or over a public sewer. A Section 104 adoption CCTV survey supports the process of transferring new drainage to a water company. For larger sites, a commercial drain survey or sewer CCTV survey may be more appropriate.
If the layout is unknown, drain mapping can establish run directions and connection points. If the concern is cross-connections or misconnections, drain dye testing may be needed alongside CCTV.

Common questions
Frequently asked questions
What information do you need to quote for a drain CCTV survey?
The survey purpose, site postcode, property or site type, known access arrangements, any deadline and the report format required. Existing plans or reports help but are optional.
Can you quote from a postcode alone?
A postcode alone is not enough for an accurate quote. Access, pipe layout, survey length and report requirements all affect the work involved.
Do you need a drainage plan before quoting?
Not always. If no plan exists, the survey may need to include drain mapping or tracing, which should be allowed for in the scope and quote.
